Doyle Ray Anthony, 69, Vero Beach

Doyle Ray Anthony, 69, died Jan. 30, 2010, at VNA Hospice House.

He was born in Buena Vista, Ga., and lived in Vero Beach for 45 years, coming from Fort Pierce. He served in the Coast Guard during the Vietnam War and was a 22-year veteran of the Vero Beach Police Department.

He served 18 years as an Indian River County sheriff’s deputy. He earned an associate degree in law enforcement from Indian River Community College, Fort Pierce.

He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Fort Pierce.

Survivors include his wife, Robin Anthony of Vero Beach; son, Stephen Anthony of Fort Lauderdale; stepson, David Ooley of Vero Beach; stepdaughter, Kristen Foreman of Port St. Lucie; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 2 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 3 at First Church of the Nazarene, Fort Pierce. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce.
