Wesley M. Tillis, 83, died Jan. 29, 2010, at VNA Hospice House.
He was born in Bartow and lived in Vero Beach for 27 years, coming from Jacksonville. He was a veteran of the Navy and Air Force, serving in World War II, and the Korean and Vietnam wars.
He retired from the Air Force as a lieutenant colonel. He was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and attended the University of Florida.
He was a member and past president of the Vero Beach Bridge Club, a member and past president of the Military Officers Association, a member of the Vero Beach Yacht Club and the Men’s Republican Breakfast Club of Vero Beach.
He was a sponsor for the Guardian Ad Litem program. He was a former CFO of Indian River Memorial Medical Center.
Surivors include his daughters, Deborah Keller of Lilburn, Ga., Cass Worthington of Jacksonville and Jennifer Neal of Pensacola Beach; son, Carlton Blake Tillis of Charleston, S.C.; companion, Betty Weise of Vero Beach; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Beverly; and brother, Donald.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Feb. 2 at St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach, with military honors to follow at the church.
A reception will follow at Regency Park, Vero Beach.
