Peter Cassara, 91, died Jan. 26, 2010, at Indian River Estates Medical Center in Vero Beach.
He was born in New Rochelle, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for 62 years, coming from his birth place. Before retirement, he was the owner of Cassara Wholesale Produce.
He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach; a fourth degree Knight of Columbus; a life member of Elks Lodge 1774 in, Vero Beach; and a founding member of the Italian American Club of Vero Beach.
Survivors include his son, Sam Cassara of Vero Beach; daughters, Mary Buzze of North Carolina, and Kathy Kundrot and Barbara Helpling, both of Vero Beach; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Marjorie, in 1987.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 29 at Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am. Jan. 30 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach. Interment will be at Winter Beach Cemetery.
