VERO BEACH — The Children’s Home Society said Monday that executive director Lawrence Brooks will be leaving the agency as his wife is taking an out of town promotion.Brooks has been guiding the two-year, $5 million capital campaign that led to the opening of the Youth Transition Center last week. The agency is seeking to raise about $500,000 before June 30.
“Our goal is to complete the Youth Transition Center capital campaign before Lawrence departs in early April,” said Marta Schneider, chair of the Indian River County CHS. “We appreciate his commitment to CHS and this project, as evidenced by his willingness to provide us with significant lead time to ensure a well-executed transition.”The search for the new CHS executive director will be led by Schneider and Judy Weber, Martin County CHS chair. The Youth Transition Center, located in Vero Beach and opened on Jan. 25, provides young adults, 18 to 23, with stable housing, continuing education and assistance securing employment.
