Mary E. Cope passed away at Royal Palm Convalescent Center Jan. 19, 2010.
She was born in Anderson, Ind., on April 3, 1919. A graduate of Miami University, (Oxford, Ohio), she followed a brief period of teaching with a successful business career, retiring to Vero Beach in 1987.
A member of Community Church, she was a past president of its Women’s Fellowship. She was also a past president of Church Women United and honored by being chosen one of its “Valiant Women.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald G. Cope and is survived by her sister, Helen B. Potter of Vero Beach, two nieces and two nephews.
A memorial service will be in the chapel of Community Church Jan. 23, at 10:30 a.m., the Rev. Carol Trax officiating with a reception to follow.
