Frank M. Duffy, 79, Vero Beach

Frank M. Duffy, 79, died Jan. 12, 2010, at the VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.

He was born in Mount Kisco, N.Y., and lived in Somers, N.Y., and was a winter resident of Vero Beach for 10 years. He served in the Army with the 40th Infantry Division as a rifle company platoon leader, during the Korean War for which he received the Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge and various medals from the U.S., United Nations and Korea.

He was the owner/operator of Frank Duffy and Son Plumbing and Heating in Mount Kisco. He was a 33 year trustee of the Board for Northern Westchester Hospital, seven as chairman of the board, a Boys Club director, chairman of two housing projects in the Village, and was a Village Board member who passed the Urban Renewal Project.

He also was a member of the American Legion and the Mount Kisco Independent Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Margaret Duffy of Mount Kisco; sons, Frank P. Duffy and James D. Duffy, both of Mount Kisco, David T. Duffy of Vero Beach, Andrew P. Duffy of Katonah, N.Y., and Charles P. Duffy of South Salem, N.Y.; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Jan. 14 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home, Vero Beach.

Out-of-town arrangements by Oelker and Cox Funeral Home, Mount Kisco. Arrangements are by Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach.
