Junior League sets date for 17th Annual Tour of Homes

VERO BEACH – The Junior League of Indian River 17th Annual Tour of Homes Junior League of Indian River, underwritten by George E. Warren Corporation and presented by the Law Firm of Stewart, Evans, Stewart & Emmons will be held rain or shine from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 20.

Treat yourself to an elegant continental breakfast of morning breads and fruits at the magnificent Clubhouse at Grand Harbor beginning at 9:30 am!  This is just one benefit for Tour ticket holders, before they immerse themselves into some of Indian River County’s dream homes Last year’s tour drew hundreds and this year promises to highlight a selection of five spectacular homes of significance fashioned by leading local architects, contractors and innovative designers.

Individual tickets are $35 ($40.00 the day of the Tour) or a Four-Friend Pack is $120 in advance and includes a complimentary breakfast courtesy of friends of the league, Grand Harbor.  Another added benefit for Tour ticket holders is the invitation to the newly renovated Grand Harbor Beach Club for live entertainment, beautiful views and light snacks, with a cash bar from 4:30 – 6:30 pm directly after the Tour.

Low beach attendance for January; no water rescues

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. "It's a great thing," Vero Beach Lifeguard Association officials said in a statement. "We hope people are paying attention to lifeguards and condition signs before they go into the water." Fertilizer restrictions to go into effect next month

A reminder from the Indian River Neighborhood Association to residents of Indian River County, City of Vero Beach, Sebastian and Orchid. We are coming into our rainy season when more nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous are likely to be washed from our lawns, driveways and roads into the storm water system and, ultimately, into our local waterways such as the Indian River Lagoon. The fertilizer ordinances passed by our communities goes into effect June 1st. It prohibits the use of lawn fertilizer between June 1st and September 30th. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations. Environmental specialists with the Florida Department of Health in Indian River County collected water samples at the beaches Monday and on Jan. 28.
