Marjorie Hershiser, 96, grandmother of former Dodger Orel Hershiser

Marjorie Osmond Hershiser, 96, died Dec. 28, 2009, at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach. She was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach since 2007, coming from Stuart. She was the grandmother of former Los Angeles Dodger great Orel Hershiser.

She was the first switchboard operator for AT&T in Buffalo and was of the Protestant faith. Survivors include her sons, Orel Hershiser of Vero Beach and Donald Hershiser of Oviedo; daughters, Anne Fitts of Vero Beach and Bonnie Stearn of Cupertino, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, John Hershiser and, her husband, Orel Leonard Hershiser II.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA/Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960. A service will be in February.
