The raves heard around Vero Beach, following last year’s social season, were no doubt for Dancing with Vero’s Stars, an inaugural event to benefit the Indian River County Healthy Start Coalition. The event’s huge success, was a clear signal for the HSC planning committee, to bring it back even bigger and better than its premier showing.
Mark your calendars for the evening of Saturday, March 13 when Dancing with Vero’s Stars will once again offer an evening of tempting tangos, sizzling salsas and jiving jitterbugs performed by local stars matched with professional dance instructors. This year’s venue, which can accommodate seating of 800, is the Waxlax Center for the Performing Arts in Vero Beach, located at Saint Edward’s Upper School.
Star dancers will train for 15 hours and cam gather community votes in advance of the evening on the website and also at the dance competition itself. Each $1 raised will equate to a vote for the dancer. Dancers will be judged on 50% money raised for Healthy Start Coalition and 50% based on their dancing skills with runner up, second place and grand prize winners.
As a prelude to Dancing with Vero’s Stars, save the date for A Glimpse of Dance, to be held on Thursday, February 4 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church Parish Hall in Vero Beach. The party will introduce the 2010 star dancers, as guests enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres, a full cash bar, professional dance performances, dance instruction with Shari and Joe Tessier of the 14th Avenue Dance Studio and open dancing to the tunes of DJ and Dance Productions.
The Healthy Start Coalition and their community partners provide pregnancy and postpartum services that support a healthier future for mom, baby and the whole family. Proceeds from these events will benefit Healthy Start Coalition’s programs and services.
