18 Herndon Street water customers to boil water after hydrant blows

SEBASTIAN — Eighteen water customers in Sebastian must boil their water before using after a fire hydrant blew on Sunday, Dec. 6, utilities officials said.

The hydrant, located at 349 Herndon Street, forced crews to shut down water to the area in order to make repairs. Water has since been restored.

Affected customers are to continue bringing their water up to a full rolling boil for one minute before using to drink, cook, make rice, brush teeth and hand-wash dishes.

The boil water notice will be in effect until a bacteriological report shows that the water is again safe to drink, which could take up to 72 hours from when water was restored.

A rescission of the notice will be issued once water is safe.

Affected addresses on Herndon Street include: 301, 309, 318, 325, 326, 333, 341, 342, 349, 350, 358, 365, 373, 374, 385, 389, 390, 398.
