Beatrice A. Dicine, 80, Vero Beach

Beatrice A. Dicine, 80, died Nov. 29, 2009, at Indian River Medical Center. She was born in Stamford, Conn., and lived in Vero Beach since 2001. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Joseph Dicine; son, Joseph Dicine Jr. of Silver Spring, Md.; daughter, Su Corbin Miller of New Canaan, Conn.; and two grandchildren. Services will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach. A guest book may be signed at lowtherfuneralhome.com.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. SEBASTIAN — Billy Wilson's impact on the community over the years was evident Saturday as family, friends, coaches, school board members and deputies gathered to pay final respects. Family, friends, marines honor ‘protector, hometown hero’

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Frank Strahorn was already considered a hero by his family, friends and marine brothers and sisters because of his military service around the world. Then, on June 19, the 34-year-old became a "hometown hero" after he was fatally shot while helping others escape a gunman carrying an AK-47 assault rifle at a Sebastian pizzeria.
