Julia Carruthers Benson, 76, wife of Tom Bennie Benson, died Nov. 14, 2009. Mrs. Benson was born Nov. 16, 1932, in Wabasso.
She had been the bookkeeper at Karst Packing House in Vero Beach before retiring to be a homemaker. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Vero Beach, and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML). She was predeceased by her husband; her father, Robert L. Carruthers; and her mother, Ada S. Carruthers.
Survivors include her daughters, Lorchid A. Benson, of Vero Beach, and Debra B. Barnes, of Fellsmere; her grandchildren, Tyler M. and Sierra Grace Barnes, also of Fellsmere; brothers, Ortemis Carruthers, of Lake Mary, Fla., Robert Carruthers, of Dallas, Texas, and Thomas Carruthers, of Killeen, Texas; and sister, Mary Abrams, of Vero Beach. Other survivors include her 4-legged grandkids, Descartes, Brandy, and Mini-poopoo.
