VERO BEACH — An abandoned memory card left in the lost and found at Vero Beach Hotel & Spa four months ago has child pornography on it, according to the employees who accessed the card.
Carla Raya, of Fellsmere, took the memory card after the hotel’s mandatory 90-day waiting period on lost-found items and gave it to her sister for her to use in her camera, Raya told Vero Beach Police Saturday. Her sister, Miriam, accessed the card and saw “revealing” images of younger females and gave the card back to Carla, who also reviewed the images.
A co-worker, Tony Mahs, of Sebastian, told police that he, too, looked at the images, which were in a file called “jailbait.” He also said that some of the girls were nude while others were clothed.
Carla estimated the girls in the photos to be in their early teens, according to the police report.
The responding officer took the disk into evidence for further analysis. The case is still open.
