David Ward Brooks, 77, Vero Beach

David Ward Brooks, 77, of Vero Beach, died Nov. 4, 2009. David was in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War and retired from Dominion Virginia Power Company, Yorktown, Va., after 34 years of service. He was a past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Yorktown and served as a Commander in the Vero Beach Power Squadron in Vero Beach. David is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Marlene P. Brooks; his brother, Ervin P. Brooks of Salem, Va.; his daughters, Lynne Medlin and Jo Brooks both of New Port News, Va.; his son, Richard Paden of Martinsburg, W.V.; six nieces and nephews, nine grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and his beloved dogs, Freckles and Chesapeake.A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009 at 2 p.m., at the Vero Beach Power Squadron, 301 Acacia Road, Vero Beach.In David’s honor, if you would like to make a contribution please consider VNA Hospice of Indian River County, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, 32960.Arrangements are under the direction of Thomas S.
