Golfing for the Environment

WABASSO ISLAND —  The 17th annual Charity Golf Tournament in support of the Environmental Learning Center (ELC) will be held on Friday, Dec. 4 at the Bent Pine Golf Club.

Registration and box luncheon start at 11:30, a putting contest will take place at 12:15 and play begins at 12:30.  The format is best ball of the foursome with full handicaps.  $300 per player event will include golf fees, lunch, cocktails and an awards reception.

Special events include a raffle ticket sale from which one person will be given the chance to sink a 50-foot putt for $10,000, and a hole-in-one contest where one or more golfers can win $100,000 each.  One raffle ticket can be used for a mulligan anywhere except in the hole-in-one contest.

The tournament is co-chaired by Tuny Hill, Susie Kasten and Laura McDermott to benefit the ELC.  The 64-acre island ELCl campus includes exhibit areas, native plant gardens, picnic facilities, gift shop and visitor center.  A list of its many field excursions including hikes, boat excursions, nature walks and bird watching can be found at www.DiscoverELC.org.
