Mark David Hollingsworth, Sr., 91, Vero Beach

Mark David Hollingsworth, Sr. of Vero Beach,  died on Oct. 28, 2009 at Vero Beach. He was born Feb. 24, 1918 in Zanesville, Ohio to parents, Leo A. and Louise Neible Hollingsworth, moving to Vero Beach in October 1997, from Dayton, Ohio. Mr. Hollingsworth graduated from Ohio State University in 1940. He was a career Human Resources Director in private industry as well as the City of Dayton, Ohio, City of Springfield, Ohio, and the State of Ohio during the term of Governor Michael DiSalle. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the European Theater as a 1st Lieutenant in the Infantry and Military Government. He was active in Rotary, National Safety Council and many civic and professional organizations throughout his career. He enjoyed wood carving and was a member of National and local Wood Carvers’ Associations. He was an avid traveler, and loved life and his family. Surviving are his wife of 12 years, Thea Williams Hollingsworth, two daughters, Katherine Delaine (David) of Jensen Beach; Marcia Molinari (John) of Hobe Sound; one son, Mark D. Hollingsworth, Jr. (Judy) of Sebastian; two stepsons, Christopher B. Williams of Orlando and Eric G. Williams (Deanna) of Vero Beach; one sister, Janice Foster of Dublin, Ohio; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren,  and ten nieces and nephews. Mr. Hollingsworth’s wife of 52 years, Ruth Hollingsworth, predeceased him in October 1994. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home, Vero Beach, Florida.
