SEBASTIAN — Make a New Year’s resolution for a healthier lifestyle and start the year off right with a 5K Run/Walk Saturday, Jan. 2 along the scenic Indian River at Riverview Park in Sebastian. The race begins at 7:30 a.m. sharp.
The course is a fast, flat route along the water with a loop at the halfway point, and finishes at the start. There will be one water station midway through the course and refreshments will be provided immediately following the race.
Awards will be presented for overall male and female winners, overall male and female masters and first through third places (male and female) in age categories 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over. Awards for walkers will go to the top three finishers. The non-refundable entry fee is $20 in advance and $25 on race day with T-shirts to the first 150 who pre-register. Race packets will be available for pick up Wednesday, Dec. 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 31 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Runner’s Depot or on race day at 6:30 a.m. at Riverview Park.
Proceeds benefit the Substance Awareness Council of Indian River County, a non-profit organization committed to educating our community, particularly our youth, on awareness and prevention of drug and alcohol use.
