Joey’s to replace 3 Aves steakhouse

VERO BEACH — A year after 3 Aves restaurant closed its doors, a new restaurant will move into the location, aiming to serve the same upscale crowd but with a more moderately priced menu.

Local developer Joe Cataldo and Joe Rizzo are set to open Joey’s in December and expect to hire about 50 employees. Where 3 Aves attracted beachside diners as a high-priced steakhouse, Joey’s will seek the same customers but with less expensive fare, according to reports. 3 Aves opened at 2075 Indian River Bouelvard in December of 2007, but closed in October of 2008. The area has seen something of a rejuvenation since that time, highlighted by the opening of the Fresh Market in August.

Another restaurant, Felix’s Place, is expected to take over the old Modernage Furniture building when that renovation is complete.
