Lonnie Mae Dawson, 78, Vero Beach

Lonnie Mae Dawson, 78, died Oct. 15, 2009, at her home. She was born in Fort Pierce and lived in Vero Beach for 30 years.

She attended schools in Fort Pierce and was a member of Resurrection Fellowship Ministries of West Melbourne. Survivors include her sons, Ronald Curtis, Jimmy Dawson, Lorenzo Dawson, Andre Dawson and Lenard Dawson, all of Fort Pierce, and Bernard Dawson of West Palm Beach; daughters, Carnelia Dawson of Vero Beach and Lorraine Dawson and Veria Hall, both of Cocoa, and Dorothy Speed, Christine Dawson and Debra Mitchner, all of Greer, S.C.; brother, Bernard Shaw of Palm City; sister, Lorraine White of Fort Pierce; 27 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Bishop Grover Dozier; and brothers, Charlie, Lorenzo and Fred Bacon.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Oct. 23 and 9 to 10 a.m. Oct. 24 at Sarah’s Memorial Chapel in Fort Pierce. A celebration of life will be conducted at noon Oct. 24 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Beral Toney officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memorial Park.
