Alice B. Simmons, 101, of Vero Beach, died Thursday Oct. 15, 2009 at Consulate Healthcare.
She was born on May 22, 1908 in Geneva, Fla. She had been a resident of Indian River County over seventy years and was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Vero Beach, where she served on the Missionary, Stewardess and Deaconess Boards.
Survivors include her great-nephew, Claude Brooms, of Suwanee, Ga., and a sister, Viola Weatherspoon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Emily Butler, and sister, France Williams.
Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. and a funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Friday Oct. 23, 2009 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, Vero Beach. Burial will follow at Gifford Cemetery.
