Nina Cleotha Cobb, 77, Gifford

Nina Cleotha Cobb, 77, of Gifford, died Monday Oct. 12, 2009 at Indian River Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 20, 1932 in Newville, Ala., and was a retired bus driver with the Indian River County School Board. Cobb was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the usher board.  She was also a member of the NAACP, Gifford Progressive Civic League, Order of Eastern Star, FAMU Alumni Association, Gifford High Alumni Association, Executive Board of Indian River County Health Department, and IRC Democratic Party.

Survivors include her sons, Selvin Cobb Jr. of Quincy and Roger W. Cobb of Philadelphia; daughters Jeanette D. Rowe of Gifford, Francina White of Abingdon, Md., Gilda Y. Cobb-Hunter of Orangeburg, S.C., Janice C. Lowe of Tallahassee and Carlos Cobb-Jackson of Miami; sister Cora Lee Smith of Vero Beach; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Ed and Eva Spinks Walker, brothers Willie Walker, Joseph N. Walker and Arthur James Walker, and sister, Dorothy Jackson.In lieu of flowers please make your donations to GHSAFA, 4136 57th Court, Vero Beach, FL 32967.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. and a wake service  from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday October 16, 2009 at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Gifford.  A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday Oct. 17, 2009, at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church.  Burial will follow at Gifford Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Stone Brothers Funeral Home.  Please sign the guest register at www.stonebrothersfuneralhome.com.
