Change the Way You See Your Life Many of us experience adversity that has a lasting impact on our physical and emotional health. What happens to us in childhood is a powerful predictor of health problems down the road and offers scientific insights into the patterns of behaviors so many people struggle to understand. The book “What Happened to You?” discusses the impact of trauma and adversity and how healing may begin by shifting to ask, “What happened to you?” rather than “What’s wrong with you?” Shannon Bowman, Executive Director, Childcare Resources of Indian River County, will review What Happened to You? Conversations on Trauma, Resilience, and Healing, at the Book Review Breakfast sponsored by the American Association of University Women (AAUW) at 9:30am Monday, Dec. 2, in the Richardson Center on the Mueller Campus of Indian River State College. Written by Bruce D. Perry, MD, PhD; and Oprah Winfrey, What Happened to You? offers a way to shift the focus from “what’s wrong?” to “what happened?” which can help open the door to resilience and healing. All Book Review Breakfasts are free and open to the public. You are encouraged to bring a new or gently used children’s book to help stock the Little Free Libraries we support in the Vero Beach area.
