VERO BEACH — You are invited to a local Art Show and Fundraiser for Sister to Sister, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Unity Center of Vero Beach. Several local award winning artists will be present with their art for sale, in support of the 2009 Mission trip and Sister to Sister project in Attachucho, Ecuador. Donna Lindeman, of Indian River County is a registered nurse and on the medical mission team for Servants in Faith & Technology. Servants in Faith & Technology, SIFAT, a non-denominational Christian organization, based in Alabama, www.sifat.org will be facilitating the trip, working in one of the poorest areas of this hemisphere. Poverty & malnutrition, along with easily prevented diseases result in an extremely high infant and child mortality rate. The team will set up a clinic and offer medical, dental and pharmacy care to indigenous people in Puengasi, Ecuador. The Sister to Sister project, www.sister-to-sister.weebly.com was seeded by members of the 2005 mission team. A small group of women in a barrio outside of Quito were given supplies and taught how to make necklaces. Each year Donna and a few fellow travelers return, where they witness the expansion of Sisters, their talents and gifts. The Sisters are now able to send all of their children to school, with money they have earned themselves through their devotion and hard work. These creations of art and jewelry are sold locally here in Florida through the year and at our fundraiser ART SHOW.
