Local artist Ivo David opens Homage to Impressionism Exhibit

VERO BEACH — Italian artist and Vero Beach resident Ivo David will be holding a joint Homage to Impressionism Exhibit with Steven Babecki and Robert Coon at the A.E. Backus Museum from Saturday, Sept. 26 to Saturday Oct. 17.  David has most recently been honored by winning the Vero Beach Downtown Hibiscus Poster Contest and also was one of the winners of the Banner Contest and his work graces some of the many banners flying along Downtown streets.  David is the founder of the Fusionism Movement and he will be showing the latest examples of his work at the Backus Exhibit.  This particular exhibit has many local scenes featured in his stunningly bold and beautiful Fusionistic style.  Members of the A.E. Low beach attendance for January; no water rescues

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. "It's a great thing," Vero Beach Lifeguard Association officials said in a statement. "We hope people are paying attention to lifeguards and condition signs before they go into the water." Fertilizer restrictions to go into effect next month

A reminder from the Indian River Neighborhood Association to residents of Indian River County, City of Vero Beach, Sebastian and Orchid. We are coming into our rainy season when more nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous are likely to be washed from our lawns, driveways and roads into the storm water system and, ultimately, into our local waterways such as the Indian River Lagoon. The fertilizer ordinances passed by our communities goes into effect June 1st. It prohibits the use of lawn fertilizer between June 1st and September 30th. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
