Mud Bog Mania at MESA Park to benefit Operation Hope

Staff Report

FELLSMERE — Officials with Treasure Coast Motorsports have released details about their Mud Bog Mania Grand Opening event at MESA Park spanning Nov. 6 through 8. Those details include a call-out for participants and spectators to bring donations to help Operation Hope.

Treasure Coast Motorsports managing partner Ike Heckler Jr. told Fellsmere city leaders last week that he decided to postpone the grand opening a month to make sure that he had enough time to secure the permits and lease agreements he needs to hold mud-bogging at MESA Park.

“We want the biggest and baddest ATVs and trucks from Fellsmere, Indian River County, Brevard County, and all over the country to compete for our top payouts,” Heckler said in an e-mail.

In the e-mail, Heckler recommends racers to arrive Friday with their race rig or recreational vehicle and “have a fun and relaxing time Fri(day) night in the neat town of Fellsmere.”

Heckler has said that he anticipates the mud-bogging to help rejuvenate the Fellsmere economy and the rest of the county by hiring local contractors and suppliers to get the tracks and park operational again. He will also be employing numerous staff members as parking attendants, ticket takers and security guards.

Those interested in racing in the Mud Bog Mania can register their ATV or truck by signing up on Treasure Coast Motorsports’ Web site, www.TreasureCoast-MotorsportsPark.com.

Heckler has asked that visitors to the park bring a donation of clothing, non-perishable food, or toys to help fill the Operation Hope truck that will be stationed near the ticket booths during the grand opening.

Operation Hope will be providing overflow parking across from MESA Park in its lots.
