Auditions for Second Annual Nutcracker

The Vero Classical Ballet will be holding auditions for their Second Annual Nutcracker at the Vero Classical Ballet studio, 3705 16th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960 on Saturday August 29 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The auditionis free but there will be a performance/rehearsal fee to take part in the production. The age range is 4 yrs old to 18. Dancers over 18 who wish to audition may call for more information. Ages 4 thru 5 will audition from 1 to 1:20, 6 to 8 year olds from 1:30 to 1:50, 9 to 11 year olds from 2 to 2:30 and 12 to 18 year olds will be from 2:30 to 3:00. The performance will be held at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center on Saturday, November28th. VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations. Saturday house fire ruled accidental

Photo provided by Indian River County Fire Rescue VERO BEACH — A Saturday blaze that originated in a garage and spread to a home - where a family of six escaped unharmed - was ruled accidental, fire rescue officials said. The state fire marshal determined the fire was an accident, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke said. The blaze displaced a grandmother, mother and four children.
