VERO BEACH – Those who dock their boats and other watercraft at the Vero Beach Municipal Marina will see their rent go up by 7 percent. Other rates, including the marina’s mooring fee and lockers, will also increase.
The Vero Beach City Council voted to approve the rate hike with little discussion at their meeting on Tuesday. The rates for a wet slip will go from $1.49 to $1.60 per foot per week – the equivalent of 7 percent. The new rates will take effect on Oct. 1. Those who live aboard their boats at the marina can also expect their rates to increase from $92.70 to $97.35 – or 5 percent.
Boaters who dock for the long term at the fixed dock will pay $9.75 per foot per month – up from the $9.27 rate they currently pay.
The mooring fee at the municipal marina will increase by 50 cents, from $10.30 to $10.80 a day for the long term. The transient mooring fee will increase by $2.57, from $11.33 to $13.90.
The marina’s facility building locker fee, too, is on the list for a rate increase. The rate will tack on an extra dollar, taking it from $12.50 to $13.50 a month.
The council decided to raise the rates to cover increases in the cost of operating the marina and its moorings, according to council records.
