Terrence Patrick O’Brien, 80, of Vero Beach, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at VNA Hospice House. He was born March 21, 1929, in Atlantic City, N.J,. and had been a resident of Vero Beach for 29 years, coming from Annandale, Va.
Mr. O’Brien is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served as Tank Platoon Commander during the Korean War. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach and the Marine Corps Tankers Association. He received his under graduate degree from Manhattan College and later graduated from Georgetown University Law School. Mr. O’Brien was appointed to the Subversive Activities Control Board and was an attorney for the Federal Communication Commission. He worked as a Legislative Liaison for Fairfax County, Va., and an attorney for the City of Vero Beach and Indian River County.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Maureen; sons, Michael and John O’Brien, both of Vero Beach; daughter, Lisa Jansen, of Blacksburg, Va., and five grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Holy Cross Catholic Church.
