Ida D. Flesia, 95, of Vero Beach, died Aug. 11, 2009, at Palm Gardens of Vero Beach. She was born in Providence, R.I., and lived in Fort Pierce for 26 years, coming from Narragansett, R.I.
During World War II, she was a member of the Civil Defense Red Cross and the local USO. Before retirement, she was the cafeteria manager at St. Francis School in Wakefield, R.I. She was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include her daughters, Joan Vaughn, of Fort Pierce, and Joyce Coady, of North Kingston, R.I.; sister, Theresa Haddock, of Sun City, Calif.; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Flesia Sr.; son, Dr. Joseph M. Flesia Jr.; sisters, Concetta Cook, Phyllis DiOrio, Alvira Mardirossian; and brothers, John DeCubellis and James DeCubellis.
