VERO BEACH – Before school begins in a couple weeks, Hannah Spector is busy cramming activity into every last minute.
The 9-year-old has spent her summer offering lemonade at the foot of her driveway and recently took up face painting.
“She’s always up to something,” said Hannah’s mom, Diane Spector – in a good way. On a recent evening, Hannah and a friend, Chasity Cooper, 8, from down the street, stood along the driveway, waving a hand-painted poster offering free face painting.
“We just felt like it,” said Chasity.
Hannah said she got the idea for painting faces after getting a little practice at an event where face painting was offered.
“I actually was pretty good,” Hannah said.
The face painting is an extension of the lemonade stand Hannah set up earlier in the summer to make a few dollars.
“She had them lining up,” Spector said of neighbors waiting for a glass of cold lemonade on a hot day.
“She’s creative and likes keeping busy,” she added.
As the summer begins to wind down, neighbors can expect to see Hannah and her friends outside waiting for brave souls to have their faces painted. In the meantime, lemonade could be on the menu.
