Fos Swearingen, Vero Beach

Fos Swearingen, of Vero Beach, died Aug. 2, 2009, at his home. He was born in Jasper, Texas, and lived in Vero Beach since 1997, coming from his birthplace.

He received a bachelor of laws degree from the University of Texas. He was a member of the Air Masters and Flying Eagles RC Flying Clubs. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; and sisters, Nancy Skreener, of Yardley, Pa., and Phyllis Sanchez, of Ewing, N.J.

No services are planned at this time.

Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach.

SEBASTIAN — Billy Wilson's impact on the community over the years was evident Saturday as family, friends, coaches, school board members and deputies gathered to pay final respects. Family, friends, marines honor ‘protector, hometown hero’

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Frank Strahorn was already considered a hero by his family, friends and marine brothers and sisters because of his military service around the world. Then, on June 19, the 34-year-old became a "hometown hero" after he was fatally shot while helping others escape a gunman carrying an AK-47 assault rifle at a Sebastian pizzeria.
