Esther S. Chase, 88, of Vero Beach, died July 18, 2009, at Royal Palm Rehabilitation Center in Vero Beach. She was born in New Orleans and recently moved to Vero Beach, coming from Edgewater.
Before retirement, she was the acquisitions librarian at Olin Library at Rollins College in Winter Park. She was an active member of the Friends of the Library in Edgewater for many years after her retirement. She was a graduate of Simmons College and earned her master’s degree from Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College.
Survivors include her son, Steven N. Chase, of Waltham, Mass.; daughter, Mary Ellen Donahue, of Vero Beach; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service is being planned for Sept. 26 at the Louisa Howard Chapel in Lakeview Cemetery in Burlington, Vt.
