Myra G. Fitch, 93, of Vero Beach, died on Monday, July 27, 2009 at Indian River Estates Medical Center in Vero Beach. Mrs. Fitch was born Jan. 30, 1916, in Gardner, Mass., and has been a resident of Vero Beach since 1987, coming from Athol, Mass.
She was a graduate of Worcester, Mass., Memorial Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1937. She was an Industrial Nurse for American Steel and Wire in Worcester and was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational in Athol. Mrs. Fitch had worked for the American Red Cross Blood Bank, the Community Health Agency, Immunization Clinic, Well Baby Clinic, Diabetes Clinic and the Athol Board of Health. She had been the Boy Scouts of America Fund Drive Chairman, Chairman of Campfire Girls Summer Camp, she was a pink lady at both Martin Memorial Hospital in Stuart and the Waterman Medical Center in Eustis. She was a charter member of Daughters of the Nile, Aquarius Temple #138 in West Palm Beach and the Eastern Star Chapter #30 O.E.S. in Athol.
Survivors include her son, C. Bryant Fitch Jr., of Goodyear, Ariz.; and her daughter, Janice F. (Gerald) Hansen, of Rutland, Vt. She was predeceased by her husband, Courtland B. Fitch, in 1994.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
