Charity sale Aug. 14 to benefit Environmental Learning Center

VERO BEACH – The owners of lifestyle store Decorative Arts and trendy Estilo Boutique have teamed up, for a second year in a row, on a one-night special, “Shop for a Cause,” with a portion of the profits going to the Environmental Learning Center’s Fire Fund. The Environmental Learning Center suffered a devastating lightning-caused fire in June 2008 destroying its main exhibit area, classroom, educational equipment and exhibits.

“Shop for a Cause” will take place Aug. 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Decorative Arts in downtown Vero Beach. Two artisans are joining the effort in support of the Environmental Learning Center. Patty Vaughn, well-known local artist, and Melanie Bock, jewelry designer for Bock Studios, will generously donate a portion of their proceeds to the Environmental Learning Center.

Shoppers can peruse fabulous fashions, exciting home décor and one-of-a-kind art and jewelry all under one roof. Jason Nesbit of the popular local band, Old Barber Bridge, will be performing during the event. “I am excited that we are able to do another Fire Fund campaign effort this year for the Environmental Learning Center. I have volunteered for the Environmental Learning Center for several years and love the organization for what it gives back to our community,” says Deb Daly, owner of Decorative Arts.

“The generosity of our local businesses is extremely touching. Even in these difficult economic times, the Indian River County community has rallied around the ELC to help restore our facilities that were lost in the fire. Decorative Arts, Estilo Boutique, Patty Vaughn and Melanie Bock are examples of the strength of a community,” said Holly Dill, Executive Director of the Environmental Learning Center.

Aug. 14 is also the date for Vero Beach Downtown Dine and Design’s Summer Sizzler Stroll. Downtown stores, art galleries and restaurants are staying open from 5 to 8 p.m. with many merchants including complimentary food, drinks and live music. This event will benefit the Cultural Council of Indian River County and Vero Beach Main Street.

Decorative Arts is located in Historical Downtown at 1923 Old Dixie Hwy in Vero Beach, FL. Shoppers can call (772) 563-0040 with questions.

The Environmental Learning Center is a non-profit nature center offering an extensive schedule of excursions, workshops, lectures, and programs for youth groups.
