SEBASTIAN — On Tuesday, Aug. 4, citizens throughout the City of Sebastian are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “26th Annual National Night Out” crime and drug prevention event.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts. Ultimately, the end result is to strengthen neighborhood spirit through community, business and local law enforcement partnerships. The intention is to send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. From 5:30 p.m. through 8 p.m. on Aug. 4, the police department is asking residents to spend the evening outside with their neighbors, local community businesses and law enforcement at Riverview Park in the City of Sebastian. The Sebastian Police Department will be hosting a variety of special events including multi-agency law enforcement display, fire rescue equipment displays, child fingerprinting and ID, and demonstrations by its Special Response Team and K-9 officers.
Free hot dogs and beverages will be provided by the GFWC Sebastian Woman’s Club.
The Sebastian Police Department is inviting you to join us at the 26th Annual National Night Out, Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Riverview Park here in the City of Sebastian. There will be entertainment by the band “American Standard,” local business display’s with tips promoting crime prevention for homes, vehicles and personal safety. Meet officers, troopers and agents with federal, state and local agencies.
