VERO BEACH — The Second Annual Love Doctors Christmas in July Party for toys kicks off at 10 a.m. today poolside at Waldo’s Restauarant at the Driftwood Resort on Ocean Drive in Vero Beach.
The event, which runs through 5 p.m., will include a Teddy Bear Poker Run, celebrity dunk tank, raffle prizes, live music from the Land Sharks from noon to 4:30 p.m. and much more. Radio personality Lexxus will join the festivities from 2-4 p.m. All proceeds from the party at Waldo’s will benefit The Love Doctors Charities.
There is no cover charge for the event, but it is suggested that attendees bring a new, unwrapped toy for the toy drive. Cash donations will also be accepted for the toy drive for those who wish to help out but don’t have time to shop for a toy.
In 2008, the Love Doctors raised more than $205,000 and provide gifts to more than 9,400 children in South Florida and the Treasure Coast. Recipients are identified through referrals from local social service agencies, schools and individuals. Hundreds of volunteers are involved in the toy drive every year. In addition to the annual toy drive, Love Doctors charities, founded by radio personalities Glenn Curtis and Rich Dickerson, provides other services, such as hurricane relief, emergency assistance to individuals, sponsorships to children’s camps and school supplies for teachers.
