VERO BEACH — This week, the Senior Resource Association (formerly the Council on Aging), opened a new Social Entrée/Congregate Meal site in partnership with The Club at Vero, 6885 20th Street. The new program is possible due to an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 grant the Senior Resource Association received in May through the Area Agency on Aging Palm Beach/Treasure Coast to enhance its nutrition programs for seniors which include the Social Entrée/Congregate Meal and Meals on Wheels programs. The purpose of the Social Entrée/Congregate Meal Program is threefold: to promote better health for adults, age 60 and older, through better nutrition and to assist them with rising food costs; to reduce isolation and provide an engaging atmosphere to spend time with friends and peers; and, to offer older adults the opportunity to live their lives with dignity. The Senior Resource Association also has Social Entrée /Congregate meals sites at: the Vero Beach Senior Center at 694 14th Street, St. Francis Manor at 1750 20th Avenue, Gifford Community Center at 4855 43rd Avenue, Wabasso Church of God at 8710 64th Avenue, and Sebastian Senior Center 815 Davis Street.
