SEBASTIAN — A Vero Beach man, 29, driving on US 1 Sunday night crashed his vehicle after he tried to reach for a cigarette, according to authorities.The driver, Hans Vogel, told the Sebastian Police Department that he was trying to get a cigarette when his vehicle drifted to the right, into a parking lane and struck an unoccupied vehicle. He was traveling at 50 mph at the time of the crash, according to Officer Steve Marcinik, a spokesman for the police department.Both Vogel and his passenger, Kimberly Chimber, 25, of Brevard County, were taken to Sebastian River Medical Center where they were treated for unknown injuries and released.Vogel has been cited for the crash and the investigation has been closed, Officer Marcinik said.
