David Lewis McKee, 81, Vero Beach; Korean War veteran, banker

David Lewis McKee, 81, of Vero Beach, died July 2, 2009, at Royal Palm Convalescent Center in Vero Beach. He was born in Pittsburgh and moved to Vero Beach in 1987 from Columbus, Ohio. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a sergeant in the 3rd Infantry. He was a graduate of Principia College in Elsah, Ill., and did his post-graduate work at Rutgers College of Banking in New Jersey. He was a banker and worked for the Federal Reserve Bank and Banc One. After retiring from banking, he entered the real estate development of McKee Point in Vero Beach. He was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Vero Beach. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Patricia; daughter, Debbie Caldwell, of Vero Beach; David McKee, of Columbus, and Don McKee, of Vero Beach; sister, Bessie Walsh, of Vero Beach; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his brother, John K. McKee Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA/Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960. A private interment service for the family will take place at a later date. Arrangements are by Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach.
