Bud Ernest Barney, 80, Vero Beach; Army veteran

 

Bud Ernest Barney, 80, of Vero Beach, died June 29, 2009, at The Place in Vero Beach. He was born in Miami and moved to Vero Beach 37 years ago from Margate. He retired from the Army after 23 years service. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years. He received a bachelor’s degree in business from Jones College in Fort Pierce. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Vero Beach, the Vero Beach Masonic Lodge 250 F&AM; Order of Eastern Star Vero Beach Chapter 135; the Vero Beach Masonic High 12 Club Chapter 655 and the Fort Pierce York Rite. Survivors include his wife, Carrol; son, David Barney, of Sebastian; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Faye Barney; and a son, Bud Ernest Barney Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bud E. Barney Scholarship Fund, c/o Vero Beach Masonic Lodge 250 F&AM, P.O. Box 1327, Vero Beach, FL 32961.Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. July 2 at Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach, with a service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. John Kerry officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3918, Vero Beach, followed by a Masonic service conducted by the Vero Beach Masonic Lodge 250 F&AM.
