Vero Beach City Hall

 

The City of Vero Beach was originally incorporated in 1919 as the City of Vero, but in 1925, the City of Vero was re-incorporated as the City of Vero Beach. The city also transferred from St. Lucie County to Indian River County.  

 

Vero Beach is approximately 13 square miles and has a population estimated at 18,160.

 

 

Vero Beach serves as the county seat and is under a Council-Manager form of government. The five members of the City Council are elected to overlapping terms of two years.  The City Manager, City Attorney and City Clerk are appointed by the City Council.

 

The current sitting council includes Mayor Sabin C. Abell, Vice Mayor Thomas P. White, Councilmember Debra Fromang, Councilmember Kevin Sawnick, and Councilmember Bill Fish. The city manager is James Gabbard.

 

All traditional city services such as police, public works, and recreation are provided. In addition, the city operates an electric plant, electrical distribution system, water and sewer plants, solid waste collection department, airport and marina.
