The Town of Indian River Shores was incorporated on June 11, 1953, and is known for its pristine beaches and controlled growth. The town’s seven square miles along State Road A-1-A between the Indian River Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean, adjacent to the City of Vero Beach.
The Town of Indian River Shores consists primarily of low-density, gated residential communities. The town’s population is estimated at 3,650 year-round residents, which nearly doubles during the winter months
Indian River Shores provides law enforcement, fire protection and emergency medical services through its well-regarded Public Safety Department. A Postal Center and Community Center are other services.
The town council consists of five members, including Mayor E. William Kenyon, Vice Mayor William Ahrens, Councilmember Frances Atchison, Councilmember Michael Ochsner, and Councilmember Gerard Weick. The town manager is Robert Bradshaw.
