Fannie Mae Griffin, 86, of Vero Beach, died Friday June 12, 2009 at Indian River Medical Center. She was born on March 16, 1923, in Dothan, Ala. She has been a resident of Indian River County for 50 years coming from Alabama. Survivors include her sons, Ivey Griffin, of Grand Rapids, Mich., SB Griffin Jr., of Hollywood, Fla., and Dannie Lamar Griffin and Robert Lee Griffin Sr., both of Vero Beach; daughters, Fannie B. Hamilton, Shirley Ann Warren, Judy O. Griffin, Diana Gail Griffin, Drucella Griffin, all of Vero Beach, and Gaynell Griffin Mitchell of Birmingham, Ala.; sisters, Vickie Lee Snell, Bessie Mae Moore, 14 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and a host of great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, S.B. Griffin; sons, James Griffin, Richard Griffin; daughter, Mary Jean Lockhart; brothers, Henry B. Reese, Lyles Reese, Jessie Lee Snell, JC Reese, sisters, Ida Bell Williams, Ozell Larry, Hassie Mae Anderson, Cassie Mae Smith, Dorothy Reese and Mattie Ruth Snell.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 19, at Stone Brothers Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 20, at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Gifford. Burial will follow at Gifford Cemetery, Gifford.
