VERO BEACH/WABASSO — The Environmental Learning Center offers opportunities to get in touch with nature and with the Indian River Lagoon ecosystem through its Treks and Tracks and Canoe excursions in July and August. In a beautiful natural setting, the ELC offers visitors a unique chance to encounter mangrove hammocks and the native wildlife of the Indian River Lagoon, including turtles, otters and various marine life.
ELC Treks and Tracks is an enjoyable stroll along a wooden boardwalk and trails at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 4, July 18 and Aug. 1, meet the guide at the Nature Center. No reservations necessary.
The Canoe Excursion is a guided paddle on the Indian River Lagoon through “off the beaten path” canoe trails. This is a two-hour tour from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 11 and July 28. The fee of $15 per adult or $7 per child includes canoe and paddle rental. Reservations required and discounts available for ELC members.
