In just takes three days to learn how you can make a lifetime of difference for animals. Please believe me when I tell you that Indian River County’s animals need you.
That’s why we hope you’ll come on over to The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County this June, where we’ll be hosting a Disaster Animal Response Team (DART) training program. It’s the premier training for anyone who wants to learn how to help animals during a disaster.

It's springtime, which means that the Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County is being inundated with wildlife. Lots of orphaned babies as well as injured adult wildlife are finding temporary shelter with us. Today alone we've had one baby opossum, a pigeon and two baby raccoons enter the shelter.

Many thanks to all of the wonderful people who picked up free pet ID tags from the Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County last Saturday, National Pet Tag Day.
In just a few hours The Humane Society issued 69 tags to families with dogs and cats. While most of the people we met with were Indian River County residents, we happily issued tags to pet owners in St. Lucie and Brevard counties, since animals in those communities sometimes wander into our jurisdiction.

If you have a pet who needs ID, we hope you'll celebrate "Every Day is Tag Day" with The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County on Saturday, April 3rd. This is a national campaign created by The American Humane Association to encourage people to get ID tags and microchips for their pets.
To make it easy for Indian River County pet owners, we'll be distributing FREE pet ID tags at two places this Saturday, April 3rd, but please leave your pets at home!! Those locations and times are:

 The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County is excited to announce that we've expanded the "Meet Your Match" (MYM) program to include shelter canines.
If you're unfamiliar with MYM, it's a wonderful, multifaceted program that helps us to assess the personality of dogs and cats in our shelter. Is one animal more outgoing or confident than another? MYM helps us to make those determinations using set criteria.
