Vero Beach Rowing Grace Rhett Memorial

January 15, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Free

Vero Beach Rowing’s youth rowing teams will join Vero Beach Police Department and other first responders in a flower ceremony memorial near the bridge where the 20-year old Notre-Dame rowing standout was killed a year ago in a horrific morning motor vehicle accident.
In the Indian River beneath the Merrill P. Barber Bridge, a mixed junior crew will launch in the Amazing Grace 4+, the boat named in Grace Rhett’s memory, at approximately 4:30pm, along with the club’s usual flotilla. The teams will row across the Indian River to the west side of the bridge, then return near to the fishing pier under the bridge by 5:00pm where the Vero Beach Police Department and other first responders and supporters will be waiting. After a few remarks by Director of Rowing Brian Colgan, rowers and supporters will toss flowers into the water around the Amazing Grace.
Note: Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no guests are permitted at the Toffey Boathouse before or after the event.
