Vicki Beyer, a lifelong Registered Nurse, enjoys spending time outside sketching everything she can see and occasionally drawing from memory or imagination. As an artist, Beyer has won a number of awards in juried shows in both Michigan and Florida. Most recently, she participated in the ArtPrize 10 Exhibition in Grand Rapids, MI. She was also awarded 2nd place at the Sebastian River Art Club’s Art by the Lagoon Show in Sebastian, FL in 2018. Beyer is affiliated with the Vero Beach Art Club, the Sebastian River Art Club, and the Barefoot Bay Artist’s Guild. She and her husband, Doug, reside in Sebastian and spend their summers in Michigan.
Gretchen Green is, first and foremost, a modern-day pop artist. Bits of jewelry chain, wire, google eyes are topped off with a glossy “pour” of epoxy resin in her stunning 3D artwork. “The pour makes them glow like jewels,” she says. The collages are mounted on thin plywood. Today, she assembles her collages from sheet metal salvaged from commercially printed steel and aluminum cans, trays and boxes. She has even earned praise in the New York times for her theatrical creations. In 2009, one of her sculptured pieces received an “Award of Merit” at the annual Juried Show “The Best of the Best” at Fort Pierce’s Backus Museum. In 2013 and 2018 Gretchen had solo shows of her work at La Mama Galleria in New York City. In 2014, her sculpture, Cherry Pit, was accepted into the ArtFields Competition in Lake City, South Carolina and was featured in the Huffington Post. Gretchen’s work is currently on display at Seriously Mixed Media, 207 Orange Avenue in Fort Pierce, and in the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall at the Emerson Center, 1590 27th Avenue, Vero Beach.
As a young child, Darlene Kratoval was fascinated by the beauty of church stained-glass windows. In her retirement she became a stained-glass artist. Ron, her husband of 51 years, used his soldering skills to complete the pieces. In 2013, three of the stained-glass windows they created were accepted as part of a revolving art show at Harrisburg Area Community College in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The windows remain on display today, five years later. After moving to Vero Beach and joining the Sebastian River Art Club, Darlene attended a watercolor technique demonstration by Judy McNamara. She was immediately hooked and switched to the watercolor medium. Since then, her art has received Best in Show, First, and Second Place Watercolor Awards by the Sebastian River Art Club. As part of their Art Around Town program, her paintings have been on display throughout Vero Beach and Sebastian. Kratoval is very excited to offer her art for the first time in a gallery setting with this show.
