Phantasies and Phugues: A Halloween Concert
October 26 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm$10
The Treasure Coast Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will hold a Halloween-themed concert entitled Phantasies and Phugues on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, at 7:00pm at First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Boulevard in Vero Beach.
Admission is free to the community; a $10 suggested donation will be accepted to benefit a scholarship program for student organists.
This fun-filled, lighthearted concert will feature organists from throughout the Treasure Coast, including several familiar faces of local church music directors such as Jacob Craig (First Presbyterian), Marcos Daniel Flores (Christ by the Sea), Neal Campbell (Trinity Episcopal), and Brady Johnson (Christ Church). They will be joined in performance by students, friends, and colleagues. Concertgoers can expect to hear a variety of music. Some are serious performances, while much of the music will be performed in a parody fashion in the spirit of Halloween.
The Scholarship program, of which this concert will benefit, exists to identify and assist young people in their initial organ studies. Former recipients include Jill Truax, presently the Associate Music Director of Community Church of Vero Beach, and Tom Ignui, a current Graduate student at Yale University. Currently, Joseph Parr and Hannah Spector are students of Neal Campbell and Brady Johnson, respectively.
The mission of the Treasure Coast Chapter of the American Guild of Organists is to promote the organ in its historic and evolving roles, to encourage excellence in the performance of organ and choral music, and to provide a forum for mutual support, inspire education, and certification of Guild members.
