Memoir: The Stories Our Stuff Tells
Ready to finally write your life story? Through handouts and brief writing exercises, this unique, interactive workshop will explore ways our possessions, past and present, spark memories and tell vivid life stories. Suzanne Fox leads the next Laura (Riding) Jackson Adult Writers Workshop on Saturday, February 22, 2020.
Suzanne Fox is a published author in poetry, fiction and nonfiction. A gifted, passionate, and inspiring speaker, she is a partner at publisher and custom anthology creator Stories of You Books and the founder/editor of Society Nineteen, a digital journal celebrating the 19th century and the gifted contemporary authors that write about it.

Suzanne received her undergraduate degree in Art History and English with Highest Honors from Douglass College, receiving a Metropolitan Museum of Art Undergraduate Internship award among others. After finishing college, she worked for several Wall Street firms and formed her own marketing and technical writing consultancy, which served clients including PaineWebber, Citibank, and other elite firms.

Leaving the corporate world to pursue one of her first loves, creative writing, Suzanne received her MFA degree in Writing from the prestigious Columbia University School of the Arts, winning a Writing Fellowship, an Academy of American Poets Prize, and the Benjamin Burns prize among other awards. After graduating from the program, Suzanne became the School of the Arts’ first centralized admission director, managing the evaluation of and response to over 1,500 applications annually in the fields of film, theater, writing and visual arts.

Published by Simon & Schuster in 1997, Suzanne’s first book, Home Life: A Journey of Rooms and Recollections, was excerpted in Glamour; featured in Elle and Mirabella magazines; praised by reviewers including Booklist and Kirkus Reviews and by readers including Maureen Howard and Daniel Halpern; and named an Editor’s Choice book by the Chicago Tribune.
