First Presbyterian Musicians to present Thank You Concert
November 22, 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm$10
A fantastic offering of local professional musicians and student soloists will present an outdoor “Thank You” Concert to the community on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at 5:00pm. The performance will be held outside of the Center for Christian Life on the campus of First Presbyterian at 520 Royal Palm Boulevard in Vero Beach. Admission is free; a $10 suggested donation will be accepted via donation bucket nearby.
This outdoor “Thank You” concert will feature members of the award-winning Youth String Orchestra, including special student soloists and small chamber groups. Additionally, local professional musicians will join in the fun for some jazz, also featuring Dr. Jacob Craig on piano. Together, they will present a variety of different musical genres – something for everyone – including classical, gospel, jazz, and contemporary. Concertgoers are welcomed to bring a meal and enjoy a picnic dinner. Bring your own blankets or lawn chairs to hear the music on the grassy area similar to a traditional “concert in the park”, or stay in the comfort of your own vehicle nearby. Please note that this concert will be cancelled if the weather forecast calls for rain after 4pm.
Since 2017, the Youth Orchestra has been providing the congregation with exciting, engaging, and challenging repertoire for church services, concerts, and other special events. The group is made up of high school and college-level orchestra musicians from throughout Indian River County, and is directed by Dr. Jacob Craig, Director of Music and Arts at First Presbyterian. In the last three years, the group has achieved two first-place wins in music competitions in Orlando, FL. In November 2019, they embarked on a mission trip to Potchefstroom, South Africa, where they worked with children at the Abraham Kriel Kinderhaus (Center for Children) and performed for the opening ceremonies of the Center’s annual Liggiefees Festival of Lights.
